Craze MP3 Player Not Remembering Date/Time 3 Years, 1 Month ago Karma: 0
When I go to:

SYS --> Record Time

It will set the date/time only until the unit is powered off. When it is powered on, the date/time is January 1, 2009 00:00:00.

How can I get it to retain the date/time settings?

My firmware version is:
2009.07.04
9.5.54.7601

Thanks!

Date/Time feature is not supported on all Craze players. This does not apply if your player does not have the Record Time option available in the SYS menu.

How to set time for Centon Craze MP3 Players
  1. Power on the player - switch power to ON, and/or press and hold Play button for at least two seconds, or until unit begins to power on indicated by the initial splash screen.
  2. Toggle to the Settings menu, and press M button to select.
  3. Highlight the Record Time option, and press M to select.
  4. Use Volume (VOL) button to toggle to the desired date setting.
    • Press VOL button to toggle to between each Date/Time setting. Sequence of settings = Year - Month - Date - Hour - Minute - Seconds. (Hours are shown in 24h military time.)
  5. Press PREV or NEXT button to adjust setting.
  6. Press M button to save changes and exit. Press and hold Play button to power off player to save the settings.

It is the last part that did it. Everything else was already tried. But when I did the 'hold the Play button to power off', it worked. THANKS!

The next day when I turn it on to record, the date and time are back to January 1 2008 at 00:00:00

Is the date and time supposed to be persistent? (In other words should I expect it to be maintained within the MP3 player and NOT have to set it every time I want to use it?)

Thanks.

There does appear to be a glitch that can cause saved settings to reset if the power switch is moved from the ON position to the OFF position, or if the battery is completely discharged. At this time, there is no fix for this.

Suggested workaround: Power off the player by pressing and holding the Play button until the unit powers off, and leave the power switch in the ON position. The player may use a small amount of energy in this state, vs. if the power switch is moved to the OFF position. Remember to connect to a USB power source occasionally to keep the battery charged.

Hi I've owned my Craze4Gb for over a year now and I was wondering if there has been a firmware update or salvation to this problem because I've noticed I have the same problem as gniknalu?

Centon media players (both MP3 and MP4) are discontinued. Consequently, development of any new firmware has been halted. If your player meets the criteria defined in the following link, then you may apply the firmware posted there, if desired.
